FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is your Ecovadis score?
Our Ecovadis score rose by +2 points this year to 66/100. LGC Industries is Ecovadis Silver and ranks in the top tier of French plants in this respect.
What is your CSR / QHSE approach?
In 2008, LGC Industries embarked on a CSR program with the ambition of promoting values other than just economic performance. This is linked to social and environmental performance, the foundation of the company, which has been certified IATF 19949-ISO 14001 for many years, and more recently ISO 45001 and EcoVadis.
What types of packaging do you use?
Most of our products are packaged in cardboard cloche boxes, enabling us to pack components weighing no more than 12 kg. Our products can also be packed in VCI bags and other types of packaging such as vacuum bags. Any request can be studied.
Can you carry out a carbon audit?
For over 5 years, our teams have been constantly trained to calculate carbon footprints as accurately as possible. Most of the time, we calculate carbon footprints component by component, but we can also calculate a global footprint.
Are you available for an audit?
We'll be happy to arrange an audit for you, so don't hesitate to use the contact form to make an appointment soon.
Where can you deliver?
We ship our components to over 40 countries in Europe, America and Asia. More generally, we can deliver anywhere in the world.
What's the difference between an Intervis® 3-hole and a standard Intervis®?
Intervis® are self-tapping threaded inserts. This means they do not require prior tapping. We manufacture two types of Intervis®, the slotted Intervis® and the 3-hole Intervis®. These Intervis® have the same functions and meet the same mechanical requirements. However, the 3-hole Intervis®, which is shorter than the slotted Intervis®, is recommended for applications where space is at a premium. In this case, the slot is replaced by 3 holes, which ensure self-tapping and trap chips from Intervis® installation.
Are you concerned about your plant's carbon footprint?
As of 2019, we have calculated our carbon footprint to respond logically to our CSR charter created in 2008. We have set up a multi-disciplinary group to reduce our footprint both during the production process and during the design phase with our customers. These 2 areas of work enable us to act favorably towards a decarbonized trend.
Can you bag the products?
We offer a wide range of bagging and packaging options, from single units in alveoli to bulk VCI bags.
Can you mass-produce?
Our equipment is designed for high-volume production, from 40 K to over 1M parts per reference.
Do your pins function as axles?
Our pins can function as axles, providing fastening, articulation and indexing functions.
What's the difference between a splined pin and a grooved or notched pin?
A grooved pin is a cylindrical pin with 3 grooves obtained by cold-forming the material. The grooves are elastic and hold the pin in place. A grooved or notched pin is produced by removing material. However, the boundary between these terms is very fine, and they are often confused.
What is the product range?
Our product range includes pins (grooved, smooth, ground), pins, centering spacers, compression spacers and self-tapping bushes. We can also manufacture any fastener or assembly element close to these ranges, for a special project.
Do your spacers work like sockets or inserts?
Yes, our spacers function as bushes or inserts for centering, anti-fluid/compression and distancing applications.
Do you have stock on your products?
We don't operate on stock systems, as our components are manufactured specifically to meet our customers' applications, with the quality/price mix in mind.
What types of materials can you supply?
The most optimal material will be selected to meet the demands of the application, with the quality/price/carbon footprint mix as the main objective.
How often and by whom are you audited?
Our ISO TS 16949 certification requires an annual audit. To go even further, over the past 5 years we have set up cross-audits within our industrial group to improve our processes from year to year. At the request of our customers, we carry out self-audits as well as audits carried out by them. In this context, the format is usually based on the VDA 6.3 standard.
Do you have stock of threaded inserts?
For our Intervis® brand range of self-tapping threaded inserts, we have set up a stock of components that is well suited to the distribution method for these parts.
Are you equipped with a sorting machine?
We have several sorting and depollution machines. We can sort down to the micron. Most of the time, we develop sorting technology directly on the machines to optimize the production chain.
What is your quality commitment (PPM)?
Our PPM level is one of our priorities. Our target is zero, so right from the design phase we take into account our customers' PPM requirements in order to determine the appropriate process. By 2022, we will have an average PPM of 3 throughout the plant.
What standards are you certified to?
With over 65% of our sales generated for the automotive industry, LGC is certified to the most demanding standards: ITAF 16 949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45 001. As early as 2007, we were Ford Q1 certified.
How do you factor mechanical constraints into the design of your products?
Thanks to our design office, RDM (resistance of materials) software and 3D printers, we are able to co-design and rapidly prototype your fasteners. It's during this process that we calculate all the mechanical stresses exerted on the part. This is also where we can recommend the best solution based on these constraints. We offer our customers the benefit of over 30 years of development experience in demanding sectors such as automotive: engines, gearboxes, medical and mechatronics.
What are your lead times for special parts?
From the very first study phase of a project, we can draw up a Gantt schedule so that we know the different phases and can act as quickly as possible, giving you visibility of progress. Once the prototypes have been validated, you'll be delivered under the conditions agreed during the contract. We have a 97% delivery rate.
Which heat treatment for which material?
The most optimal heat treatment will be combined with the material required to meet all the expectations of the projects entrusted to us by our customers: OEM and Tier 1 for 65% of our sales
What are your tooling lead times?
Our in-house tooling workshop gives us tenfold responsiveness. It's not unusual to offer a 48-hour lead time for simple tooling. For the most complex tooling, this can take up to 8 weeks.
What type of heat treatment can you supply?
The overwhelming majority of our treatments are carried out by our specialist partner. Its international dimension, its CQI9 certification and the location of its plant 40 km from ours make it a partner of choice.
What are your lead times for standard products?
Our delivery time is 4/6 weeks for a standard product. However, we are able to make partial deliveries at shorter notice on request.
Where does your material come from?
100% of our material is supplied within 900 km of our production site, with over 80% within 500 km of our French factory.
What is the product range?
All cylindrical pins, including the splined pin, as well as spacers, pins and self-tapping bushes, our added value consists in co-development with our customers to obtain the best mix: quality/price/environment/timeframe.
What are the company's sales figures?
Our sales are around €10,000,000, with steady, controlled growth.
What is the company's workforce (with ratio)?
The company is made up of 70 professionals. 70% technicians and engineers and 30% support, sales and management functions.
Where do you produce?
Our production is currently centralized at our Avrillé/Angers site. To meet our customers' "global foorprint" requirements, we are expanding in the USA, where we already have a logistics base.
